One legacy of complex trauma for me, especially as a Hongkonger, is the oversize fear of being recorded – as if everything I say will be used against me, every less-than-perfect choice of words and examples scrutinised and interpreted in the least generous ways and played back to catch me out.
It’s one of the reasons why I so appreciate the safe and confidential space that coaching and therapy provides.
I really stretched myself recently by going on a podcast and a LinkedIn Live! I’ve noticed that I’m a lot more awkward and prone to rambling in this kind of setting, but hey, I’ve got to give myself more opportunities to practise and learn, haven’t I?
